CML is currently setting up a system for monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of the social impacts of its businesses. The system will combine hard measures such as profit margins based on data from CML’s record keeping system with soft values obtained from surveys given out to the clients. Our ambition is that the system should result in data that can be analyzed both over time but also be compared with general benchmarks and data from other microfinance institutions. We also want to analyze the effects in relation to the amount invested and present measures such as number of jobs created per invested dollar.

The M&E system is still very much a work in progress but we hope to present some findings on an ongoing basis. Our goal is to produce a yearly report to send out to all investors, the first one of which is expected to be published by the end of 2016.
